WHAT IS MUSIC THERAPY?
Most of us are familiar with the benefits of music. The influence of a song can calm our nerves after a stressful morning, get us pumped for a big event or even heal a broken heart. For many, music is a powerful transport to special times and places of memory and meaning. Music can reveal emotions, offer comfort and peace of mind. For hospitalized and special needs children, teens and even adults, music therapy enhances emotional well-being and promotes social, motor, cognitive, and communication skills. It can also be a therapeutic bridge that can take them far away from their pain, disease and isolation.
Currently, more and more medical and mental health doctors are recognizing the invaluable contributions that music therapy provides in helping patients heal. Music therapy is, in many ways, an essential part of a new way of thinking when it comes to treating the whole person - mind, body and spirit. Especially programs that provides hope to children and teens in crisis and those with special needs. As more individuals turn to alternative medicine, I believe that the need for music therapy is going to become greater. Many people don't even know that it exists and that is what I want to change. My passion and goal is to increase the awareness of the benefits of music therapy and help raise more funds for existing programs that have the greatest need. There are many organizations that do not have the funding to have a music therapy program. We seek out proven providers that give children and young adults hope by using music therapy as part of their learning and healing process.
I have found that a little money goes a long way to help put a smile on someone’s face. 100% of all tax-deductible donations to "Music As Therapy", a 501(c)(3) nonprofit company will go to purchasing music and/or instruments to aid in therapy. Please donate today, every dollar helps. "Together we can change the world through music TM.”
